BHUTTO ASSASSINATED

Astrological climates like the one we are passing through now never go unnoticed. Whatever is happening in the sky is always a mirror of events happening below on Earth. One can only watch, wait and pray that the assassination of Benazir Bhutto does not escalate the Middle Eastern tensions to breaking point. These are difficult and dangerous times indeed.

The former Prime Minister was killed today by an attacker who then blew himself up, killing many more. Concentrating on the astrology of this tragic event the recent Full Moon, which we equate with heightened emotion and significant turning points, was one of the highest riding Full Moons. It eclipsed the planet of anger and violence, Mars, which is at its closest point to Earth. Mars will not be so close for another 9 years.

The lunation fell at 1 degree Cancer which is less than 1 degree off Bhutto's natal Sun (21 June 1953, Karachi). Meanwhile the recent Jupiter Pluto conjunction now has her Sun at their midpoint. Most significantly Benazir was born on the Summer Solstice which is in square aspect to the World point of 0 Aries and both are being triggered by the unparalleled line up of planets across the Winter Solstice 0 Capricorn point. This means that Bhutto's life and death can have far reaching implications for the World.

The Moon which moves at 1 degree every 2 hours (so a 2 hour window) always acts as the trigger of the loaded gun - in this case it was in a literal sense as Bhutto was shot before the suicide bomb exploded. The Moon was exactly conjoined to her natal Pluto which was currently in opposition to Neptune. Additionally the ascendant (the sign rising in the East) at the precise moment of her death 6.16pm, was exactly conjoined to Bhutto's Uranus. This is a 4 minute window and speaks of her freedom from mortal life and the unexpected nature of the attack.

The correlations between heavenly activity and celestial events can no longer be ignored or swept aside by sceptics. Statistically the chances of such 'coincidences' are incredible.

Let's now look at the ACG maps. When she was killed we can see the Mars Pluto IC midpoint transiting right through Rawalpindi area. This Mars/Pluto midpoint, along with the Jupiter/Pluto were contacting zero degrees of the cardinal signs, 0 Cancer, Capricorn, Libra and Aries i.e., The Cardinal Cross.

If we look at Ms Bhutto's natal chart we do not have a precise birthtime but if we use the symbolic sunrise time we can see a whole glut of planets congregating in the vicinity, including the midpoints of SA/PL and NE/PL IC. This means that this location was primed from birth to be of a SA/NE/PL influence for her life - the disintegration (Ne) by bomb attack (Pl) of the body (SA). It also speaks of the chaos (NE) and threat (PL) to authority (SA) that persists there.

Benazir Bhutto was an incredible woman. If Comet Holmes was, as many believe, portending the loss of an eminent female leader, they don't come much greater and more brilliant then her. She'll be sorely missed.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THIS?

The chances of winning the Lottery (UK) are 1 in approximately 14 million. To put these odds in context, suppose you purchased one lottery ticket per week. 13,983,816 weeks is roughly 269,000 years; In a quarter-million years of play, one would only expect to win the jackpot once.

If you play the US Mega Millions the stats are 1 chance in a mind boggling 175,711,536 It's therefore slightly unnerving to my brain that a Professor from JPL ( Jet Propulsion Laboratory) has estimated that the chances of asteroid 2007 WD5 smashing into Mars on Jan 30th 2008 is just 1 in 75!

Hmm, I'm no mathematical genius but aren't those rather short odds? Certainly if seventy five of us were standing in a room and had just been told that one of us was about to win the lottery, I'd be getting fairly excited!

A 1-in-75 shot is "wildly unusual," said Steve Chesley, an astronomer with the Near-Earth Object office, which routinely tracks about 5,000 objects in Earth's neighborhood.

"We're used to dealing with odds like one-in-a-million," Chesley said. "Something with a one-in-a-hundred chance makes us sit up straight in our chairs."

The asteroid,, is about 160 feet across, which puts it in the range of the space rock that exploded over Siberia. That explosion, the largest impact event in recent history, felled 80 million trees over 830 square miles.

The Tunguska object broke up in midair, but the Martian atmosphere is so thin that an asteroid would probably plummet to the surface, digging a crater half a mile wide, Chesley said.

Before we get too carried away it should be stressed that the people who know about these things estimate the odds will lengthen again over the next few weeks and an impact is unlikely. We can also remind ourselves that nothing happened to us here on Earth in 1994 when Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 crashed into Jupiter. What is interesting however is that Mars is currently very close, in astronomical terms, to Earth - far far closer than Jupiter could ever be and much closer than is normal. In the event of an impact of a huge asteroid on Mars at this time, one has to wonder what effects shockwaves reverberating around in relatively close Space could have on our planet. Think of stones dropping into the middle of a pond - those on the waters edge invariably get a ripple at their feet.

Normally I wouldn't give stories like this much time, I'd leave all the scaremongering to the doomsday forums. However it cannot be ignored that we are currently witnessing some other unusual events involving the Red Planet, namely its aforementioned proximity to Earth and the occultation of Mars by a just full Moon (i.e. Sun. Mars and Moon align although the occultation occurs shortly after the Moon is technically full). Additionally Mars is in opposition to Jupiter and Jupiter has just entered the sign of 'rocks and hard material', Capricorn.

To my mind the latter opposition speaks of the threat receding as and when the aspect completes on the 27th December, but symbolically Mars (and therefore by correspondence those born under the sign of Aries and Scorpio) will be under an unusual amount of attention for the next few weeks.

Mars moves into Gemini on 1st January so either the asteroid may split into two or attention will also fall on the Asteroid 2007 TU24 which coincidentally is a huge body making a close pass by Earth on January 28th .

On January 30th 2008, the current anticipated ' WD5 Asteroid impact' date, Mars will be closely opposed to the Galactic Centre and in sesquisquare (135) to the Sun whilst the Sun and Pluto will be in parallel declination. Heliocentrically there will be a Mars/Venus/Uranus grand trine still in orb, so it is still possible this asteroid will surprise us in some way. Aries and Scorpio should mark that last week in January in their diary and be alert for the unexpected - especially in romantic and financial concerns.

One other thing we cannot ignore is that Pluto will have just entered Capricorn on 'impact date'. This is intriguing because again Capricorn is associated with rocks and hard material and it is an Earth sign. My instinct is that we are going to become very more aware, as we move through the era of Pluto in Capricorn, of hazardous space material, comets, asteroids etc and the effect they can have on the Earth and our biosystems.

Many people believe that the Mayan End Date of 2012 is associated with foreknowledge of the return of a long-term Comet which will affect Earth and its inhabitants. In this respect I thought it would be interesting to see what similarities the 'Mars Impact' date has in common with the Mayan End date chart. Intriguingly there are quite a few correlations. This could well point to the increased fear factor and 'hype' surrounding both dates but it may also point to some disturbance that affects Earth or the revelation of some new understanding about the nature of space objects such as asteroids. It may be opportune for me to point out here that I have never believed that 2012 will coincide with mass extinction but I do think the coming years could be very interesting indeed in terms of expanding our awareness of our position in the Cosmos and our understanding of time and Space.

Finally, I read an article this morning where someone was noticing an increase in electrical malfunctions at this time. I can relate to this. I have had fuses and light bulbs blowing left, right and centre. Maybe it is just the increased seasonal strain on the grid system with more people buying electrical items and illuminating their houses and trees for Christmas.

What intrigues me though is that there are reports that telepathy is also on the increase. This would be symbolic of an increase in electrical activity in the brain. Over Christmas why not try and experiment with your nearest and dearest. When someones back is turned towards you, speak in your mind to them. Say something repeatedly in your head like 'What's that on your shoulder?' or 'Scratch your leg now' and then wait and see how many times that person will indeed suddenly start scratching their shoulder or brushing off some mysterious object on their leg. It beats playing Monopoly for the thousandth time!

As well as blogs (and sometimes within them) there are literally hundreds of horoscope columns offering daily, weekly or monthly 'scopes on the Net. In my opinion, none of them consistently excel for accuracy and insight like Jonathan's. That leaves huge shoes to fill, when he takes time off. If, however, you hate to miss a day of Jonathan's advice he is still available via audio horoscopes. If you go here you can access a free trial of Jon's wisdom and perspicacity concerning this weeks incredible heavenly alignments.

The horoscopes you see on Jonathan's Internet site also appear in various newspapers. To write a newspaper 'Sun sign' horoscope may seem easy but let me tell you, it is the most difficult task that an astrologer can undertake. It is the shop window that could entice those with little previous understanding of the correspondences between celestial activity and terrestrial events to come inside and discover more. That incurs a tremendous responsibility because whoever writes the most accessed horoscope on the Internet is simultaneously acting as an ambassador for the profession as a whole.

Many people realise that Sun sign horoscopes cannot always have specific relevance for everyone but they can act as a sort of weather forecasting tool - one that can alert you to the general climate. The onus then lies with the individual to find out exactly how current trends will apply to him or her by seeking out a more personalised report, or by having a consultation with an astrologer. If you go to the consultations page on my website you will find a variety of people with different skills who are only too ready and willing to help you. In addition many of the online astrological blogging community offer personal consultations including Lynne Hayes, Michael Wolfstar, John Townley and Elsa P.

In many of my horoscopes this time around you will see a repeated theme of 'potentially life-altering'. This is because the overall climate for all signs is currently one of the most sensational we have seen for many moons. In astrological interpretation the most noteworthy affects of planetary movements occur when planets cross one of the four cardinal angles i.e 0 Aries (an Equinox point also known as the World point and zero declination ) 0 Cancer (Summer Solstice point, 23.26 declination) 0 Libra (Autumn Equinox, Zero declination) and 0 Capricorn (December Solstice, 23.26 declination). At this moment in time we have four planets congregating on the Cardinal Cross around 0 Capricorn and two moving to oppose these from close to the 0 Cancer position. There's a whole host of other intriguing heavenly activity at this time, which I mention in my previous post.

Here is what one of the most famous 'daily prediction' astrologers of all time - Grant Lewi - had to say about just one of today's line ups, the Sun/Pluto conjunction:-

During this time, you will have to face up to the real, inner you - the person you were meant to be and not the person you were taught to be. For years you may have avoided "gut" personal issues, ignored what you wanted and concentrated on what you thought others expected of you. But no more! Your strongest desire at this time might be to make a totally new start - change homes or even towns, divorce your marriage partner and in extreme cases refuse custody of your children. Conditions you have tolerated in the past, even though they may have caused you pain or unhappiness, are now swept aside. Realizing your potential will become your primary goal. Depending on how frustrating your life has been, the changes coming your way can undermine the very foundations of your security. Pluto brings about drastic, revolutionary changes, but ones which are necessary to halt the process of stagnation and instigate continued growth. These changes cannot be resisted entirely, although your tendency might be to desperately cling to the status quo. One of the lessons you will learn is that change is necessary - all things which have lapsed into a cult routine or become meaningless will be cleared away to make room for more progressive attitudes and creative activities.

This transit of the Sun brings about the need to understand yourself on a deep, inner level, much deeper than the image you normally show to the world. There is also a need to get to root causes. Exactly why do I act in this way? Why am I afraid ? Who am I really? These questions, and more, must now be answered. Psycho-analysis, consciousness-raising groups, meditation and introspection can help you to achieve deeper self-understanding, which will lead to greater self control and greater utilization of your potentials.

So there you can see another 'take' on just one of the big transits of this pre-Christmas period. This Sun/Pluto conjunction is far more potent than normal however as it is the last one to occur in the sign of Sagittarius for 248 years. I include Lewi's words to give you some idea of how astrology is a participatory discipline, in as much as it is a tool to help you gain greater self awareness. Nothing happens to the unaware person 'out of the blue'. Any surprising or unexpected turn of events is simply a signal that there is a part of your life that you are not paying enough conscious awareness to. If a Sun Pluto conjunction does bring profound and difficult circumstances, they didn't just happen to you - you happened with them; the Universe resides within and without - As Above, So Below - and as Lewi rightly says "This transit of the Sun brings about the need to understand yourself on a deep, inner level". Another thing to be aware of is that conjunctions are known as 'seed moments'. So if nothing significant appears to be happening outwardly in your life at this time we can be fairly certain that, at some inner level, matters are percolating which will find manifestation (begin to grow towards the fruition stage) around 45 days time/3rd February 2008. This is when the Sun and Pluto reach their semisquare phase.

With newspaper horoscope columns it is impossible to go to these lengths of explanation and sadly, until some enlightened Editor gives astrology the space it deserves, they will continue to be grouped alongside the cartoons and crossword - indeed many, to this day, are accompanied by the rider 'for entertainment only'. That hurdle aside I believe that if any Sun Sign column can consistently entice just a few more people to come and explore behind the storefront, astrology may one day be restored to its rightful position - nature's tool for self - awareness and synchronisation of the human being to the Universe they inhabit.

THE RISE OF THE CORPORATE MYSTIC

If you were not aware that we are in a time of momentous change then you are either new to astrology, or you have been otherwise engaged in recent weeks. We have an unusually bright Comet blazing forth in the sky; a Sunspot larger than Jupiter; Mars not only coming to its closest position to Earth but also out of bounds in declination and due to oppose four planets lining up within a few degrees of the Galactic Centre! Phew, take deep breath everybody because that's not all....

This celestial showstopper is all happening as we move towards Jupiter changing signs for the first time in a year (to the sign of Capricorn). Then Saturn will bow its head and stand still, as a crash of cymbals sound at the Sun/Pluto conjunction. The Sun also stands still from Dec 20th (we pause and bide our time) as it prepares to turn around at the Winter Solstice. We then move towards the always highly emotional and dramatic Full Moon.

The great 'Orchestral Conductor' in the Sky is obviously trying to build the tension up to a crescendo, for this one occurs on Christmas Eve. It's a Full Moon like no other as it is inextricably linked with the Mercury/Jupiter/Pluto/Mars alignment - and the Moon actually occults (eclipses) Mars at it's brightest point. Disregarding longitudinal positions, retrogrades etc for a moment we can say then that the planets, Sun/Moon/Mercury/Earth/Mars/Jupiter and Pluto are all coming into synchronisation close to the Galactic Centre and the Solstice point. That's some symphony. If you click on the image at the top you will see a visual depiction of this.

The gestalt of the Christmas Eve line up is that of an imbalanced see-saw, denoting that there's pull between inner and outer feelings, home and career, freedom and closeness, head and emotions. Whatever you are grappling with now there are contrary pulls on your time and there may be ethical and moral dilemmas. Feelings of wanting to move forward but being held back because practical details have yet to fall into place will be commonplace.

The overall feel is one of important announcements, speeches and decisions, truths emerging and tipping points being reached. A changing of the guard, an ascent to a mountain peak (debt??) that can go no further. A belief system or ideal that now has to to be turned into practical action. A bridge between theory and practice needs to be crossed. Spiritual beliefs and teachings need to start permeating out into the real world.

In fact if you have held a belief system or believe strongly in making a difference now it the time to move this out into the corporate world. The New Ager, The Eco Warrior, The Astrologer, the person with a vision; the person who understands the interconnected nature of life - all are now about to get a voice in corridors of power.The spiritual person - the unsung heroes of daily life who keep business and productivity moving i.e the secretaries, the admin people, the 9-5 workforce, the bosses - they have to rise up and become 'Corporate Mystics', Taking their beliefs out into the real world and make them tangible.

The Celestial pile up is occurring at the most globally visible part of the Zodiac, the MC, and this means a major transition point in Leadership (Royal Family, Presidents, your Boss, your parent, you role) The Sun, and Mars, have gone as far as they can go, the only way now is back down - symbolically bringing us all back down to Earth. Back to more reality and truth.

Many of us simply can't go any further now with plans, ideals, beliefs, dreams or fantasy - and that includes denial, lies and cover-ups. We have to sit down and take practical steps to address or lives. Dreams have to be earthed in practical action. Lies and fantasy bubbles (over inflation) have to be pierced and the fall out dealt with. The planets are all piling up in Fire signs which equate to spirit, they are due to move to an Earth sign that relates to matter. Constructive action has to replace mental deliberation, agitation and crises of conscience.

For example it's all very well in theory to keep piling money on a credit card if you intend to pay it off month by month, but eventually there becomes a tipping point where the interest is unmanageable and you simply have an insurmountable mountain of debt. Now we are being forced over that mountain and have to take practical steps to reduce it. Self- preservation of all you have built up is key but only in ethical ways. Choosing voluntary bankruptcy as an easy way out would be unethical. New credit arrangement to pay back in smaller increments wouldn't.

Whilst writing the World Banks have taken the unprecedented move of all joining together to inject cash into the failing economy. This is highly symbolic of the changes occurring at high levels where the good of the whole system is being looked at. Joining forces on a global basis (Galactic Centre) to create change.

Some of you may have been building up to taking some new position or role in life; a promotion or a complete change of career; getting married; becoming a parent; taking retirement. Now you will have to balance out all the realities of assuming that new role. Management of your time, your family commitments, laying down your manifesto for the future. Those of you desperately seeking recognition or fame may have to watch it doesn't flip over into notoriety or infamy. 'Status' and 'Celebrity' won't have the same kudos from 2008/2009 onwards that it once had. Socialism will begin to replace Capitalism. People won't care what you have or who you are, they'll care what you do, what you say, and how you make a practical contribution for the good of the whole.

We'll all be forced to appreciate the material plane for its true value. Abundance will no longer be enough. It is illumination ( and the fulfillment that this engenders) that we are being asked to seek.

If you have been in a romance that has been all love and passion, you may feel compelled to take it to the the next level. You'll probably be considering further commitment. If you have been in denial about a bad relationship, or set of circumstances, now you are weighing up your options. What is clear is that for many of us things cannot go on as they were - but they can get better.

Oprah Winfrey led the way last week when she stepped out of her comfort zone and spoke up for Barack Obama because she believes in him. She wanted to put her money, her mouth and her faith behind his ( and her) vision for a new America. It is the people who do have a vision for humanity - and not just for their party or their own egotistical reasons- who will rise up the ranks now.

Jupiter is the planet of social change. It is also the planet of teaching. JUPITER/PLUTO - An Invitation

Here we are then, just hours away from the exact Jupiter/Pluto conjunction. I think I have said enough about this aspect recently (here) so today I thought it would be nice to post a poem at this precise and historic moment - Moon/Jupiter/Pluto. This famous poem has been inspirational in my life. If you haven't ever read it, I hope from today it can become an inspirational touchstone in yours.....

THE MISSING PEACE

Money suddenly arrives unexpectedly in exactly the amount required to pay for the course. Someone offers to have the kids etc., etc.

If The Hoffman is not for you, you'll know too. In fact you probably haven't even got this far down the page. You won't have a running battle with yourself in your head about the pro's and con's of attending. There simply won't be the magnetic pull. That's okay.

What is the Process? Liza describes it as:
A retreat where you make profound inner change by resolving what's unresolved in your own heart. The Process allows you to deal with what cannot be dealt with through your intellect or even by knowing it so well that you could write a story about it.

Why do the Process? Raz has this to say about the benefits:
There's a pretence that when you become an adult you'll magically know how to get married, raise children, sustain love, have a career, grow old gracefully, save money, and so on. But nobody teaches us this, so we imitate what we see on TV, but unfortunately, much of popular culture is empty and meaningless. The Process initiates us into finding answers within, to live a life based on love, peace, dignity and contribution, rather than on things we imagine will bring us satisfaction, but don't. At the Process we see a lot of successful people confronting a lack of deep meaning; they want a bigger life; to really be alive.

How do you see the Process in the future? Raz replies:
I'd like to see some of the central values of the Process embedded into the culture. I'd like people in high school to be taught about child development. I'd like people to know that authenticity is at the heart of leadership. And for people to understand that every human being is an absolutely unique gift. Children need to be given respect, dignity, appreciation and love.
