Well here it is (or was!). Looking rather like white road lines in the sky, this is a picture of asteroid 2008TC3 shooting across the heavens. The photo on Spaceweather.com was taken by ERIC ALLEN from Observatoire du Cegep de Trois-Rivieres, Champlain, Québec, Canada and I'm sure more pictures of the fireball will be forthcoming later. So far there's not much news about whether any fragments of the asteroid made it to land but keep watching Spaceweather and Sky and Telescope for updates.
What is important for sky watchers of the astrological variety is that this was the first time that a warning of an impending asteroid has been issued. Although you can track Near Earth Objects via the NASA website (Here's a list) and bulletins from Spaceweather, this was the first-of-its-kind advance warning. This means we have a 'birth' moment chart.
Harvard scientists announced the impending arrival of this space rock late Monday afternoon (according to all sources). Many of the reports seem to be around 5.15pm EDT so in the absence of the exact time of the news release, I'm going to take a chart for 4.45 pm EDT. Note the Moon and Jupiter in the cardinal signs we associate with rock - Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn which is in opposition to Uranus - literally unexpected(UR) rocks (SA) from space (UR in Pisces ruled by Neptune/Jupiter). Pisces rises too.

Only the ascendant and house cusps will alter if the announcement time proves to be way out, so this is still a valid planetary chart for future announcements.
This chart is all but useless until another event, but it is worth keeping it on file. What is clear is that these events can come by stealth (Scorpio) and take us by surprise, but one assumes that the late warning was because it was so small in size - astronomers please advise!
The other chart to compare this asteroids entry time of 02.46 GMT with is the 1908 Tunguska event. A huge asteroid is thought to have hit Tunguska in Siberia on 30 June 1908. The time given is variously 00.14 UT or 00.17.11 UT. If we progress the chart of that event ( progress means to move it forward to 'now') we find something quite amazing. Look at the contacts between the progressed Tunguska impact chart below and the the 02.46, 2008TC3 chart for last night.
What this shows, yet again, is that everything happens in cycles, and planets coming to certain mathematical (harmonic) divisions of the 360 degree circle trigger events of the nature of the planetary symbolism and correspondence. Here is the biwheel chart. Again click to enlarge.......
From this data I think it would be safe to say that events of this nature will be more likely when Cardinal signs - Libra, Cancer, Aries, Capricorn are prevalent and that 14 Libra is a 'hot' degree for an event of this nature. 14 degrees of Cardinal signs is often associated with World events anyway. Pluto will come to square (90 degrees) of 14 Libra in 2016 but Saturn reaches that degree in Nov/Dec 2010.
For the non astrologer Cardinal signs are planets in harmonic divisions of the 360 degree ecliptic starting at the March Equinox so 0-30 degrees 90-120, 180-210 and 270-300. We designate these as associated with astrological signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn respectively but they have no alignment with constellations. Astrology is the study of the circle and its proportions - i.e. study of cycles and their correspondence to everything in the Universe, 'above and below'.
In the Tunguska event 7+ planets were lined up in the Cardinal sign of Cancer (see below) opposed by Uranus with Saturn in a T-square. This means that the event resonates to the Saturn/Uranus cycle.
We are now at an opposition phase in this cycle and due to retrogradation, we will continue to be into 2010. Therefore, as Pluto enters the cardinal, earth sign of Capricorn this fall, one can assume - in fact be almost certain - that the Saturn/Uranus cycle will throw us a few more 'curved balls' from the sky as well as far more Earth related phenomena, such as earthquakes, in the coming years.
