THE BIRD A NEST, THE SPIDER A WEB...

One of the great things about working in this industry - the world of metaphysics and self-improvement - is that you get to encounter, and make friends with, some fascinating individuals. I thought I would write a quick post to tell you about some of the people I value and what they are up to.

The bird a nest,
The spider a web
Man friendship - William Blake

My wise, inspirational and loyal Leo friend, Annie Lionnet is celebrating the release of her second book in 'The Brilliant' series from Pearson Publishing (Can you see the link between Leo's and the sunshine word brilliant!). Last year Annie wrote The Brilliant Guide to Life Coaching and this weekend saw the launch of Brilliant Relationships - Your Ultimate Guide to Attracting and Keeping the Perfect Partner . Although these books don't contain any astrology, Annie is a tutor with the Faculty of Astrological Studies and much of her understanding of the nature of love, desire and relating comes from her astrological work and coaching with clients and students. I would highly recommend this book even if I didn't know her!

Louise Austin (Gemini) is a psychotherapist, a personal development workshop leader and conference speaker. I met Louise at a hospital ante natal class 11 years ago when we were both expecting our first child. Out of a class of about 30, Louise and I hit it off, we got chatting only to discover that we hail from the same small town some 100 miles north of London and had two good friends in common - synchronicity/fate? Whatever, I love the way the universe conspires to draw us towards like minded souls.

Louise works alongside Alison Hodge, and with Saturn currently opposing Uranus, Louise is breaking free (SA/UR) from concentrating solely on her workshops with companies such as Coca-Cola, GSK, The Daily Mail Group etc and giving public workshops with Alison.  If you sign up to their mailing list by sending Alison an e-mail there will be forthcoming Vision to Reality workshops. Annie and I hope to join them in giving one with an astrological 'bent' soon too!

Linda and Cornelius Boertjens are founders of OrangePeel Vision Boards. A couple of years ago I was so impressed by this product - the only one of its kind on the market at the time - that I became an affiliate and ended up in regular communication with them. Although they are based in New Zealand (where my Moon IC ACG line is) we have become firm friends and I can tell you that with Mercury (in Scorpio) ruling my 11th, with Virgo on the cusp, I don't give my 'lurve' and friendship indiscriminately!

They are totally dedicated to making people more aware of the power of  the Law of Attraction and Visioning and their business decisions are made from a place of wanting to share, rather than ££$$$ signs in their eyes. They have integrity with a capital I and a great promotion on for Christmas! Click the banner for more info....

Ann-Marie Caffrey (Cancer) and Joe Vitale (Cappie) are two others who more than deserve a mention. AM (as we call her) introduced me to Joe who has recently reworked his book The Attractor Factor to include AM's AFIQ ( Attractor Factor IQ ) quiz. You can buy the revamped version of the Attractor Factor and acquire a huge amount of freebies here. It makes a great Xmas present for others and ranks as one of my 'Change your life' books for its inspirational content.

I'm working on a fabulous book project myself at the moment with another trusted friend, Jonathan Cainer (Saggie) - a venture which I will tell you more about as soon as possible. For now though I sincerely hope that if you have enjoyed my posts over the years, you will feel happy to trust and support my friends too.

Oh and don't forget Martin Davis and his books for anyone with an interest in AstroCartoGraphy. Other people who I admire or 'hold close' can be found amongst my links in the sidebar!

Many thanks indeed x

AUSTRALIA & SA/UR

Sue Tompkins is one of those astrologers who I really 'connect' with. I love her writing style, greatly admire her astrological knowledge and insight and, therefore, take special note when she ascribes a new correspondence to a planet or sign. In this instance, I recently read one of her observations that had me slapping my forehead and exclaiming 'Duh, why hadn't I noticed that before!'. Sue recognised that the country of Australia (and maybe New Zealand) must be Uranian and here she explains why:

"Situations where individuals en masse are literally ostracized from society are very Uranian, as are situations where individuals voluntarily decide to emigrate....Not long after Uranus was discovered, Britain and Ireland sent about 165,000 of its citizens to the then unknown land (to Europeans) that we now call Australia. In my view Australia resonates strongly to Uranian vibes not only because its early white settlers had been rejected by the land of their birth ( as they in turn rejected Aborigines), but because of there being so much sky (UR) and the population tends to live on the perimeters of the continent.... The land mass itself pretty much stands apart from the other great continents. It also has possibly the largest reserves of Uranium on the planet"

Sue goes on to write:

" In my experience, Europeans when visiting Australia tend to do so when under the influence of major Uranian transits"

Now, that really made me sit up and think. I know a number of people who have emigrated to Australia, and either they are very Uranian in nature, or they were, indeed, undergoing transits relating to Uranus when they moved.

So then I got to thinking about how, at this precise time, Saturn is opposing Uranus (Sue's designated ruler of Oz) in the sky and wondering if we would hear any particular news from the continent at this juncture. No sooner had I thought this than a Qantas airliner almost dropped out of the sky after severe turbulence, thought to have been caused by electronic equipment (ruled by Uranus) failure - which may have come about as the result of interference from computers or devices (Ur) being used by passengers (SA in Virgo).

I then decided to have a look back in history to see what happened at the previous Saturn/Uranus opposition in 1965/1966 in Australia, and at the start of the SA/UR cycles (0 degrees) which occurred in 1942 and 1988.

1942 was certainly a critical year in the history of the country. It was the year that the Japanese Navy and Army Air Force carried out 97 air raids, In the first — and deadliest — attacks, 242 planes hit Darwin on the morning of 19 February 1942. At the time of the exact start of the Saturn/Uranus cycle The Battle of the Coral Seas began and a few weeks later Sydney Harbour and Newcastle were attacked.

Also in 1942 The UK Statute of Westminster was formally adopted by Australia. The Statute formally granted Australia (along with New Zealand, South Africa, and the Irish Free State) the right to pass laws that conflict with UK laws.

In 1988 Parliament House opened in Canberra. The Olympic Dam opened, 550 km NNW of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It is the site of an extremely large deposit of copper, uranium, gold and silver.

So, what can we expect from the Saturn/Uranus opposition, which lasts through to 2010, for Australia? Well chances are that it's going to be related to the economy and their resources (gold, silver, uranium) especially as the current opposition involves the Australian natal Moon at 20 degrees Virgo in the 2nd house (finances) of the Jan 26, 1788 Chart ( 05.30). The 1966 opposition was when decimalisation occurred and the Australian currency was changed to dollars and cents, with the Australian dollar replacing the Australian pound.

In the news today we read

'Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Australia's currency plunged this week by the most since it began trading freely in December 1983 as stocks slumped worldwide, prompting investors to cut holdings of higher-yielding assets funded with loans in Japan.

However here is a link to more events in 1966 and the only thing I would say is watch the news headlines and keep the following in mind. Saturn/Uranus oppositions stir up energies that result in pulls between the following forces/ideas:

Saturn
Tradition
Government(s)
Authority
Business
Older Males
Governors
Statesmen
Orthodoxy
Uniformity
Summits or tall places
Right wing movements
Repression and Recession
Buildings ( esp those to do with Government or business)
Statues
Minerals
Stability
Resistance

whilst Uranus relates to

Change
Modernisation
Shocks
Independence
Revolution
Instability
Group endeavour
Anarchy or Overthrows
Radicalism
Rejection
Removal
Sudden or surprise actions
Electronics
Aircraft
Exceptional circumstances
Liberty and freedom

Join the two ideas any way you like to get a feel of the overall energy. For example;

Tradition fights with Modernisation

Resistance to change

Stability vs Instability

Freedom from repression

Revolution in the mineral industry or
Strikes in the mineral industry

and I guess we can add

Shocking (speedy) recession

Also as Saturn in Virgo relates to games played with small balls like golf, cricket

Changes or surprises in Australian golf and or cricket games

Let's see what Sue Tompkins says about Saturn/Uranus

Cautious reform
Fear of change
Breaks with authority
Rebels in control

She ascribes it to politicians who have to resist mutiny in the ranks (!) and points out that it is a useful combination for anyone who has to push through major reform. She warns however that it can render a person unable to bend or shift (Sa) to needed change(Ur) hence fate seems to ensure the most dramatic kind so of breaks (i.e., break from job etc., or even breakage of bones).

Finally in evolutionary terms I would add that Saturn Uranus cycles at the opposition phases prompt us to release or reject our reliance on the purely material planes of manifestation and to embrace our connection to the collective i.e to our essential unity.

MORE ON ASTEROID 2008TC3 & future threats

Well here it is (or was!). Looking rather like white road lines in the sky, this is a picture of asteroid 2008TC3 shooting across the heavens. The photo on Spaceweather.com was taken by ERIC ALLEN from Observatoire du Cegep de Trois-Rivieres, Champlain, Québec, Canada and I'm sure more pictures of the fireball will be forthcoming later.

So far there's not much news about whether any fragments of the asteroid made it to land but keep watching Spaceweather and Sky and Telescope for updates.

What is important for sky watchers of the astrological variety is that this was the first time that a warning of an impending asteroid has been issued. Although you can track Near Earth Objects via the NASA website (Here's a list) and bulletins from Spaceweather, this was the first-of-its-kind advance warning. This means we have a 'birth' moment chart.

Harvard scientists announced the impending arrival of this space rock late Monday afternoon (according to all sources). Many of the reports seem to be around 5.15pm EDT so in the absence of the exact time of the news release, I'm going to take a chart for 4.45 pm EDT. Note the Moon and Jupiter in the cardinal signs we associate with rock - Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn which is in opposition to Uranus - literally unexpected(UR) rocks (SA) from space (UR in Pisces ruled by Neptune/Jupiter). Pisces rises too.

Only the ascendant and house cusps will alter if the announcement time proves to be way out, so this is still a valid planetary chart for future announcements.

FUTURE ASTEROID WARNING ANNOUNCEMENT CHART- click to enlarge

This chart is all but useless until another event, but it is worth keeping it on file. What is clear is that these events can come by stealth (Scorpio) and take us by surprise, but one assumes that the late warning was because it was so small in size - astronomers please advise!

The other chart to compare this asteroids entry time of 02.46 GMT with is the 1908 Tunguska event. A huge asteroid is thought to have hit Tunguska in Siberia on 30 June 1908. The time given is variously 00.14 UT or 00.17.11 UT. If we progress the chart of that event ( progress means to move it forward to 'now') we find something quite amazing. Look at the contacts between the progressed Tunguska impact chart below and the the 02.46, 2008TC3 chart for last night.

What this shows, yet again, is that everything happens in cycles, and planets coming to certain mathematical (harmonic) divisions of the 360 degree circle trigger events of the nature of the planetary symbolism and correspondence. Here is the biwheel chart. Again click to enlarge.......

From this data I think it would be safe to say that events of this nature will be more likely when Cardinal signs - Libra, Cancer, Aries, Capricorn are prevalent and that 14 Libra is a 'hot' degree for an event of this nature. 14 degrees of Cardinal signs is often associated with World events anyway. Pluto will come to square (90 degrees) of 14 Libra in 2016 but Saturn reaches that degree in Nov/Dec 2010.

For the non astrologer Cardinal signs are planets in harmonic divisions of the 360 degree ecliptic starting at the March Equinox so 0-30 degrees 90-120, 180-210 and 270-300. We designate these as associated with astrological signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn respectively but they have no alignment with constellations. Astrology is the study of the circle and its proportions  - i.e. study of cycles and their correspondence to everything in the Universe, 'above and below'.

In the Tunguska event 7+ planets were lined up in the Cardinal sign of Cancer (see below) opposed by Uranus with Saturn in a T-square. This  means that the event resonates to the Saturn/Uranus cycle.

We are now at an opposition phase in this cycle and due to retrogradation, we will continue to be into 2010. Therefore, as Pluto enters the cardinal, earth sign of Capricorn this fall, one can assume - in fact be almost certain - that the Saturn/Uranus cycle will throw us a few more 'curved balls' from the sky as well as far more Earth related phenomena, such as earthquakes, in the coming years.

BREAKING NEWS! 8TA9D69/2008TC3 Asteroid Impact

An asteroid (2008TC3) approximately 10 ft across is due to impact Earth's atmosphere over North Sudan tonight at approx 02.46GMT (that sounds precise to me but I guess these things can alter course).

According to reports.... "the meteor it produces is likely to be spectacular. The rock will release about 1 kiloton of energy in the atmosphere – the equivalent of a low-energy nuclear bomb"

You can read the story here. I just heard about it through a news alert from Sky and Telescope.

This really is breaking news, only two mentions on Google News as I write so by the time you read this it may either have broken up in the atmosphere or hit the sea or ground.

Although small and unlikely to do any severe damage, this is intriguing when you look at the ACG (astromaps). If there had been more advance warning you can only imagine the chatter on the Doomsday sites. The astro map at the top is in Celestial mode and shows Pluto IC through Sudan. The one below is Geodetic coordinates and shows Mars IC! Incredible symbolism for an asteroid releasing so much energy.

THE DEATH GRIP - Astrology of the housing market

Please note this article is not only for the UK market or reader. Please scroll down.

The word 'mortgage' means 'death-pledge' or 'death grip'. It stems from medieval times when, if one fell on hard times, one solution was to seek to mortgage a property you already owned in order to get cash.

The American Heritage Dictionary has this to say on the etymology of the word Mortgage....

ETYMOLOGY: Middle English morgage, from Old French : mort, dead (from Vulgar Latin *mortus, from Latin mortuus, past participle of mor, to die + gage, pledge (of Germanic origin).
WORD HISTORY: The great jurist Sir Edward Coke, who lived from 1552 to 1634, has explained why the term mortgage comes from the Old French words mort, “dead,” and gage, “pledge.” It seemed to him that it had to do with the doubtfulness of whether or not the mortgagor will pay the debt. If the mortgagor does not, then the land pledged to the mortgagee as security for the debt “
is taken from him for ever, and so dead to him upon condition, &c. And if he doth pay the money, then the pledge is dead as to the [mortgagee].

To the astrologer, who deals in the language of correspondence, this places all mortgages under the 'jurisdiction' of the planet of death, Pluto. It gives them an association with the sign ruled by Pluto (Scorpio) and, by polarity the sign Taurus. Taurus has the planet Venus as ruler and Venus is the natural significator of money. The Scorpio/Taurus axis is concerned with what one has and what one owes i.e., debt taxes, income etc.

As many followers of our profession may already be aware, the planet Pluto has just completed 13+ years in the sign of expansion, buoyancy and over extension, Sagittarius. It now moves for the next 17 years into the sign of honour, Capricorn- the sign of contraction and realism and by extension, the sign of honouring one's debt and taking responsibility for what one has done to secure one's status (mortgaged house).

Tracing the passage of Pluto through the signs is intriguing. Home ownership in the UK has really only been a national pursuit since the late 50's early 1960's when Pluto was in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is an earth sign. It is the sign of duty, service and servicing. Bricks and mortar are from the earth and people took practical steps to secure their future by buying into 'buildings' and servicing mortgages on them. In the early 1960's Saturn, which I shall discuss later, was strong in the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius.

So, Pluto, then in Virgo, speaks of small, routine matters that we attend to as a matter of duty. One's that help our life to move along as smoothly, efficiently and orderly as possible. Mortgages did indeed begin to become more routine and commonplace but the emphasis was still on tidy, practical and manageable sizes of loans. No one would lend money they didn't feel could be safely repaid. In the 1970's however Pluto moved into the sign of Libra, the property boom for couples and co-habitee's (Libra), really began to take off as you could borrow over two times (Libra) your earnings or legally have someone stand as co-borrower ( Libra) or guarantor of the debt.

Then Pluto hit Scorpio in the mid '80's' and debt started to escalate. Pluto in Libra had brought a boom in 'beautifying' (Libra/Venus) our home and entering into competition (Libra) with neighbours for the nicest looking house/garden etc. Furniture and 'home' stores began opening everywhere. A classic Keeping up with the Jones' syndrome began. Indebtedness soared and within a few years of Pluto moving into Scorpio there was a natural correction as people realised that with interest rates rising, stockmarkets crashing, they couldn't afford to repay their loans and many homes were repossessed and bankruptcy abounded. (Scorpio). Borrowing conditions were (temporarily) transformed (Scorpio).

Still, however, a popular myth persisted - 'you just can't lose with property'. Everyone refused to see there was a fundamental problem with the system of borrowing and instead we all lived in a perpetual state of optimism, brought on in no small part by politicial decisions and the lining of the pockets of all those in the legal profession concerned with the selling (conveyancing) of a house.(Sagittarius.)

Inflation was curtailed and in 1995/6 World trade, imports/exports (Sag/Jupiter) and feelings of abundance increased again. Despite recent memories of the boom and bust era of the early 90's, lending began to go through the roof while interest rates remained low and the house market went wild.

SATURN IN THE PICTURE
Mortgages and debt are ruled by Pluto but it is the planet Saturn which is the planet astrologers give to the physical property itself. Saturn rules strutures. It is therefore of prime importance when assessing the housing market - Pluto is just the invisible charge/debt on the property. Additionally, within these long term Pluto cycles, the day to day ups and down of the market continually respond and adjust to the 2+ year per sign cycle of Saturn. This can be witnessed by the peak in 2003-7 that coincided with the entry of Saturn into the sign of 'my home is my castle', Cancer. Swiftly followed by Saturn's entry into the sign of gambling, speculation and 'the bigger, the more bling-bling the better', sign of Leo!

As soon as Saturn hit the sign of Virgo - the sign of the manageable and day to day practicalities, while Pluto concomitantly began edging to the end of Sagittarius, it all began to come tumbling down. Here's a graph to prove it -
Saturn moved in Virgo at the beginning of September 2007.

WHAT NOW?
So, what now. Well if you are living in the USA, or the rest of the world, different cycles are also interweaving and should be looked at for specific markets but, as far as the UK ( a Cancer/Capricorn country i.e. tradition and home ownership) - and in general terms for the US - the economic outlook is all too obvious. It's Grim with an intentional capital G.

If you want to know why then skip back a few posts and watch the film Money As Debt. The house market and the economy are obviously interlinked and Pluto will be in Capricorn, while Saturn moves, square by sign, through Libra, from 2010 - 2012. This suggests some form of house sharing system - perhaps this type of scheme will become more prevalent..... Housing Cooperatives

With Jupiter in the sign of Aquarius and then Pisces during this same time period, 2010-2012, community spirit and charitable concerns will reach an all time high. Estate Agents (Realtors) as we know them today will be virtually dead in the water. Selling homes by word of mouth or via the Internet will take priority. Families may join together in houses. Humanitarianism and democracy will rule and money from bricks and mortar will become a thing of the past as new materials especially metals, plastics, glass, wood, (even strong paper) and ecologically friendly materials are used to construct many new houses.

Sorry to be the voice of doom here for all those depending on a rebound and trusting that one day the house prices will rise to current levels again, but I just don't see it. 'The Death grip' and economic mismanagement has squeezed it dry.

If you are in the UK and want to vote in a new party at the next election perhaps we should all consider this one The Money Reform Party! Even if you are outside the UK this Reform Party site, whilst a few years old (very prescient of them) still makes for an interesting adjunct to the Money As Debt video that I featured a few posts ago and explains what is going on with the turmoil around the bailout bill and the stockmarket.

US ELECTION
In my newsletter which went out about a week ago I mentioned that I believe the Democrats will be the party in power in the USA. I now see this is reinforced by Jupiter's move into Aquarius next year - the natural sign of democracy. One is naturally assuming the Democrat will be Mr Obama, but all astrologers have noted the adverse aspects to his chart and we can only pray that Mars in his eighth house, soon to be bracketed by Saturn and Uranus is - as Ebertin* says: a state of challenging others to a decisive fight, and not the alternative of 'an act of violence and deprivation of freedom' for Barack.

If you have added your name to my mailing list (see box top left) since the mail out then you will receive a copy today. If not then you can see it here and adding your name will ensure you get the next one - typically only 4 per year.

So far the horary chart has proven to be pretty accurate. The horary was written prior to the surge in the economic meltdown of last week and the announcement by Mr McCain that he and Mr Obama would work together to resolve it. I had written hours before " So Obama is caught up with McCain (Mercury); both are in the position of seeking the job (10th) but also both are caught up with Mars. What does Mars represent? Obviously fighting, strife and strong debate but also as ruler of the 5th and 12th, speculation and the stock market (5th)"
and I wrote
"this means it is about to turn on its heels. Mercury in this chart represents the Job of President (10th ruled by Mercury) and it represents John McCain as ruler of the 7th. So Mercury is like someone who has got to a dead end and has no option but to turn around and go back".

The media reported Senator McCain's 'suspension' as an unprecedented situation. I had written
"Uranus in Pisces could be taken as unexpected chaos or an unprecedented situation. Uranus occupying the 3rd house of Obama and the 9th of McCain in this chart does suggest something of this nature i.e., an unexpected announcement" and "this reinforces the rule that this chart is not fit to judge because something is about to change". And so it was!

The NY Times reported ' The events have been fast moving I wrote "The Moon being fast in motion also suggests things are moving fast and it is out of bounds so America (Cancer) is in uncharted territory"

David Letterman took the highly unusual position of being very hostile to Senator McCain when the Republican candidate abandoned his appearance on Letterman's show in the wake of his announcement that he was stopping his campaign to go back to Washington, DC to help with the bailout bill, but was later seen preparing for the Couric interview. I wrote " Mars also rules his turned 11th so maybe McCain feels under attack from the party benefactors or TV station coverage. McCain is also so closely tied to the economic problems instigated by his party that it could be that which is weakening him".

There is much more in this horary yet to unravel so do take a look. Please also let me just say here that my primary motivation with everything I write about astrology is to help people to see THAT ASTROLOGY WORKS and should be given a far higher respect than it currently is. I apologise if all the above sounds like an 'aren't I clever' speech. It's not me, it's the astrology that is clever!

Thanks for reading.
